No-Buy Style: Bright Summer Outfit Inspo

No Buy Bright Summer Outfit Inspo

Welcome back to another installment of our blogger collaboration: the No Buy Style Challenge Edition! The month you’ve (perhaps) been waiting for has finally arrived: MY MONTH TO INSPIRE THE LOOK! So here we go with a super fun (and VERY Callie) bright summer outfit!

About the No Buy Style Challenge

If you’re new to the show, this is a rotating blogger collaboration with myself, and my blogger friends Charlene, Brita and Liz. Each month we have taken turns creating a ‘no-buy’ style look. Then the rest of us create our own version inspired by theirs! So have a looksie at the outfit I was inspired to create, and then head over to see what they did with the inspiration!

My Style Inspiration:

I had so many options to choose from (because I HAVE SO MANY CLOTHES, seriously). So, I worked to narrow it down by thinking of some summer inspiration as well as an item I loved but hadn’t had much chance to wear yet! Here are some images that I found while searching for ‘summer’ inspiration (images free to use and available on Unsplash).

Creating My Bright Summer Outfit

I had this dress from a previous photoshoot for work from Starfall. I loved the bright colors (I love rainbow), and the animal print. It’s really soft and comfortable, too. However, I got this dress not long before COVID started, and as a result haven’t felt like I had anywhere to ‘wear it’. Then I realized its really soft and comfortable and I don’t need to save it for ‘going’ anywhere!

I added a fun sparkly sandal (from fiveBelow), some sunglasses (old, from Foster Grant) and a sparkly rainbow clutch because WHY NOT?

Let’s be honest: this is a pretty wild look! No pun intended. So I can’t wait for you to see how the other ladies used this inspiration!

Tips for the No Buy Style Challenge for Plus Babes:

  • Look for ‘occasion’ styles that you love and feel confident in and work to dress them down so they get worn more!
  • Live with a partner who’s clothes you can borrow/steal? Try em! Don’t let sizes or gender labels deter you from creating a look you’ll love.
  • Get crafty! Have a style that fits but you aren’t wearing? Take to TikTok, Pinterest or Youtube for some craft / alteration / embellishment inspo
  • Donate, sell, or alter clothing that doesn’t fit and makes you feel bad about your body (ok, thats more just life advice I wish I had taken earlier, but I tried to sneak it in).

Such a fun outfit! I would wear this dress around the house all the time.

  2. Charlene says:

I absolutely love this outfit! And I love your tips. I should wear some of Pearson’s clothes more often. I wear his flannels in the colder months sometimes but I should branch out of that! What a great idea!
