Disney : Magical Treats You Must Try
Growing up in Southern California, it’s hard to imagine a childhood without Disneyland. Now that I’m all grown up (or so my driver’s license says), I still love the magic of all things Disney.
My husband and I are APs (annual passholders), honeymooned at Disney World, and I’ve been to Disneyland Paris with my sister. Can you say Disney nerds?
We are also foodies. We even have our own Instagram dedicated just to the food at Disney, called MouseTreats.
So if you are headed to the most magical place on earth, check out some of my FAVE spots to grab some treats while you hang with Mickey & friends!
Breakfast: Carnation Cafe
Location: Main Street, USA, Disneyland
I suggest getting to the park as early as possible if you want to enjoy breakfast at one of the restaurants. A lot of them take reservations and can fill up months in advance, especially character dining. However, we have had luck with popping into one of Main Street, USA’s classic dining options for breakfast when we enter the park early enough, even without a reservation.
From Mickey waffles to Eggs Benedict, the menu isn’t super extensive, but its reliable and tasty. Plus we love the outdoor seating and classic red and white decor!
Sweet treats: Coffee Cart
Location: Left of Cinderella’s Castle
Only recently has this little cart become quite the hub for Disney food lovers, thanks mainly to its rotating gourmet donut selection! This one, the Dole Whip donut, had a marshmallow topping and pineapple filling. They change them on Friday’s, so make sure to see what’s new in the case!
Seasonal note: They also make special occasion donuts for celebrations like Halloween and Christmas, but they can sell out early in the day, so make sure to fit this one in before lunch.
Afternoon delight: Churros
Location: various carts around the park
One of the most beloved and popular treats at Disneyland has to be the churro. However, in recent years they have become something of a fan favorite thanks to limited edition versions covering everything from rose gold to pineapple (shown in photo), Star Wars to Villains.
The lines can get a little long, especially on days when they release a “new” churro (anybody else remember the rose gold release?) so look around to find out where the ones are that you want and if there are multiple locations with that flavor. Otherwise, there is always the classic version that never disappoints…
Drinks: Tiki Room // Dole stand
Location: Dole Whip stand next to entrance of Enchanted Tiki Room
Perhaps the most famous of all the classic Disney treats is the Dole Whip. The famous sorbet-like soft-serve is the perfectly refreshing treat on a hot, crowded day. Or a cold and rainy day. Or really any day. One of my favorite ways to enjoy it is in float form: A Dole Whip Float, that is.
This is another place that gets long, especially in the afternoon and during the summer. They recently rolled out mobile-ordering and pickup, so you can try to take advantage of that if you are pressed for time.
Bonus Spots: Disney California Adventure
I wanted to keep the majority of my recommendations for just Disneyland, as I know not everybody who visits goes to both parks. However, there are some really honorable mentions I want to share in case you’re headed to DCA:
